Kira and the kitty are slowly becoming best friends…or at least willing playmates. The kitty is remarkably laid back with a baby constantly picking at her. We’ve taught Kira to “be nice to the kitty” and she is relatively gentle. Now and then she does still take a big handful of the kitty and a tangle of yowling ensues until we can rescue the cat.

Just a few more pictures and updates – not much going on except feed baby, change baby’s diaper, put baby to sleep…repeat. We’re doing good though, and getting into a bit of a routine. Joseph goes back to work Monday though, so probably we’ll need a new routine once that comes round, but for the rest of the weekend, we’re just resting and enjoying our new little family.

The kitty is still curious from time to time, but mostly she’s used to Kira now and rarely even acknowledges her. We’re trying to give her plenty of attention so she doesn’t turn into a resentful cat, and so far so good.

Taking over the baby seat
Finally got Melanie and Kira home after six days on hospital. Everything was nice and tidy and Melanie’s father Neil had been around and cleared enough snow for the car to get in.
Had an interesting first night. Turns out the good behaviour from the hospital was just to lull us into a false sense of security.

Kitty seems to have reacted ok but we still watch. Whenever the baby moves or makes a noise the kitty jumps back. Very funny to watch.
