Civil War

  • August 29, 2009 8:41 pm

Every year for as long as I can remember (like say maybe 17 years now?) my dad and I have gone to the annual Civil War Muster in Jackson, Michigan.  It’s a Civil War reenactment.  We head down in the morning, save ourselves nice viewing spots with our chairs, then have a BBQ chicken dinner.  After that we wander through the exhibits and shops (read: tents with things to buy in them) and at 2:00 we head up the hill to watch the battle reenactment.  It’s a nice end-of-summer tradition.

This year Kira got to go.  She was really so good all day long.  She wasn’t even bothered by all the cannon and gunfire.  In fact, she would bounce vigorously on my lap and seemed to enjoy watching all the action.  My dad and I also had fun posing her with various props (like cannons) and having her try on hats.  She was a good sport.

O dear, what a cutie. The war thing sounds interesting. I am reading Gone with the Wind at the moment, which is full of the civil war stuff. Its all very sad! nearing the end now, which is my least favorite part of the book… sigh. I make myself read it in daylight.. but not before bed, so i don’t dream about all the sad stuff.
